My teaching interests are mainly in structural engineering and in particular structural engineering design, although I have also taught engineering maths. I have taught at the universities of Nottingham (2003-5), Edinburgh (2005-13), Manchester (2014-2017) and Warwick (2017-date).  I am a Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester and was a visiting lecturer at Lulea Technical University in northern Sweden (2011-2014). My experience of being a JBM Panel member and head of Civil Engineering at  University of Edinburgh  for two and half years have made me think about the future of civil engineering education and teaching, and how things will and might change in the next decades.

The following pages highlight some of my thinking about mostly undergraduate teaching, the approach I take and courses I have developed. They discuss work that is largely complete.  For things I am doing right now, have a look at my blog
